9 DAYS BEFORE I LEAVE FOR THE GAMES... 13 days before the start of the Games.
Sports has always been a big part of my life. Ever since I was a child I was always active in participating in sports and as well as promoting it.
Studying Sports Management gave me a bigger sense and knowledge of sports in Canada and around the world. I have gotten the opportunity to learn a lot about the Olympic Movement, and by going to Vancouver to experience the major Games live will be unforgettable.
My parents attended the Montreal Olympics in 1976 and saw Nadia Comaneci when she won a Gold Medal with a perfect 10 in Gymnastics. Many years later, they still recall these moments.
The reason for me creating this blog is to share my one and a lifetime experiences leading up to the Games, and as well my adventures within the two weeks of these incredible performances.
Canadians have been teased for not winning a gold medal as a host nation since 1976 and again in 1988 (Calgary). This trend will change this time around. We will win a Gold Medal in Vancouver!
But let's be honest, who cares if we win medals, we just want to see good and fair competitions for all!
I will be posting my thoughts, emotions, anticipations, and feelings in the days leading up to the Games.
Media experience during the Games is awesome, but it is also very limited. Following me during the Games will give you an insider's perspective on what is really going on.
Enjoy!

Bonjour Mathiew. I am Andree's aunt who lives in BC. Can you please let Andree know that her blog is not working.
ReplyDeleteI just came back from Mexico yesterday and did a lay over in Vancouver. I can assure you the airport is well prepared to stage the world. Every window is etched in some kind of olympic event and the volunteers are already in place to help the visitors navigate through the airport. They have done a great job at the airport. There are more Olympic stores and venues to sell you the real items at a heafty price.
As we flew in yesterday, we flew over the mountain ranges and it is impossbile to think the skiing event can happen. All you see brown bare batches everywhere and no snow in the forecast for this week at least. More rain the the forecast with very mild weather. They are now talking about bringing in snow from the top of the mountain which will be quite the feat. After seeing truck loads of hay being delivered 2 weeks ago, VANOC is preparing for the worst.
I know this will be a lifetime experience for both you and Andree. Enjoy it and I will be enjoying hearing from your adventures.
